Our Story

Cornerstone Baptist Church is a growing church family in North Pole, Alaska, with a simple desire— to know God, love people, and make a difference in our community.

Our journey began in late 2022 when a small group of believers started gathering in living rooms and around kitchen tables to pray. Those prayer meetings quickly became powerful times of worship and fellowship, and it became clear that God was bringing people together for something greater.

After much prayer and discussion, Cornerstone Baptist Church was officially founded on January 1, 2023, with about 50 people gathered for our charter service. From the very beginning, God’s hand was evident. For the first several months, we worshiped wherever we could—garages, living rooms, and even outdoors—trusting the Lord to provide.

In the summer of 2023, He did just that. On July 30th, we celebrated our first service in a beautiful new location at 3555 Laurance Road, a space that fit our needs perfectly and gave us room to grow. (see story)

We believe God has planted us here “for such a time as this” to shine His light in our corner of the world. The story of Cornerstone is really the story of God’s goodness, and we’re excited for all that He has in store.

We’d love for you to be part of this journey. Come see what God is doing—you’ll find a church family ready to welcome you in.

Our Pastor

Pastor Aaron Richert

"That I may know [Jesus]" - Philippians 3:10a

Pastor Aaron Richert grew up in the mountain town of Big Bear City, California. After high school, he joined the U.S. Army, which brought him to Fairbanks, Alaska. It was there that God changed the direction of his life forever—Aaron was saved, met his wife Karrie, and surrendered to God’s call to ministry.

When his military service ended, Aaron jumped straight into ministry in Southern California while also working on his Bible college studies. For the next ten years, he poured his life into helping three new churches get started.

In time, God brought Aaron and his family back to Alaska. After serving in two churches, the Lord made clear the need for a new work in North Pole. Out of that step of faith, Cornerstone Baptist Church was born.

Aaron and Karrie are blessed with four wonderful children—Sadie, Jaiden, Tess, and Charlotte—and are passionate about serving the Lord together as a family.

Pastor Aaron Richert grew up in the small town of Big Bear City, CA. After graduating high school, he joined the US Army which lead him to Fairbanks, Alaska. While stationed in Alaska, God lead him to a church where we got saved, met his wife, Karrie, and surrended to serve God with his life.

After getting out of the military, he immediatly got involved with church planting work in Southern California, while simultaniously doing his Bible college studies.

After 10 years of church planting ministries, God lead him and his family back to Alaska. After serving in two different churches, God lead them to launch out and start a church in North Pole where Cornerstone Baptist Church was born.
